Your Period Is Sacred (And Patriarchy Lied to You About It)

Empowered woman honoring the sacred wisdom and rhythms of the menstrual cycle

Let me tell you something that will blow your mind.

Your menstrual blood is magic.

Scientists discovered in 2007 that menstrual blood contains stem cells that can transform into bone, cartilage, fat, heart, liver, skin, and even neurons. These cells are being used right now to treat infertility, liver disease, skin injuries, and neurological conditions.

Your period isn’t a waste.

It’s POWER.

When I was a teenager, we had cutesy phrases for menstruation.

“Is Aunt Flo visiting?”

“Are you on the rag?”

Like it was some embarrassing inconvenience we had to whisper about.

But I loved my period from the second I got it.

I felt power moving through me during my cycle. Something sacred was happening. I felt connected to Earth, to the moon, to God, to everything.

As an adult working as a hands-on healer, I scheduled most of my healing and medium sessions during my menstrual cycle because I knew the work would be more potent.

I could feel the energy moving through me differently.

Stronger.

Clearer.

More.

And I learned to honor the rhythms of my body.

A woman’s body works in cycles.

Not linear.

Not constant.

Rhythmic.

When you fight those rhythms — when you try to be the same level of productive every single day — you’re working against your own nature.

But patriarchal systems need you to ignore your rhythms.

Because a woman who honors her natural cycles doesn’t fit into a world designed by and for men.

I was scrolling Facebook recently and saw a woman talking about how she can’t wait to get rid of her period.

Hundreds of women were agreeing.

“Yes sister, I feel the same way.”

How did we get so disconnected from our own bodies that we hate the very thing that makes us creators of life?

Patriarchal systems weaponized menstruation.

Women were told they became “polluted” and “impure” when menstruating, forced to seclude themselves from men and sacred spaces.

Why?

Because menstrual taboos were used to reduce women’s visibility and involvement in spiritual life.

A menstruating woman was too powerful.

Too connected to creation.

Too sacred.

So they made her dirty instead.

Blood was originally a mark of the sacredness of the body — but the systems turned what benefited women into something disempowering.

That lie moved through generations.

Through your grandmother.

Through your mother.

Into your body as inherited shame you didn’t even know you were carrying.

Here is the skinny:

Your endometrium regenerates over 400 cycles in your reproductive life.

Every month, your body performs a miracle.

It prepares to create life, and when that doesn’t happen, it sheds and rebuilds.

Death and resurrection.

Monthly.

You are literally walking proof of the divine feminine.

And your menstrual blood?

It contains stem cells that divide rapidly and can heal countless conditions.

Your period is medicine.

It’s life.

It’s sacred power.

I’m post-menopausal now.

I’ve moved from the Maiden to the Mother to the QUEEN.

And I can honestly say there wasn’t one period I was ungrateful for.

Not one.

And now?

I’m in my full power.

The Queen phase is where all those years of bleeding, of honoring rhythms, of building wisdom month after month integrates into something unstoppable.

The energy that used to cycle outward now stays IN.

It builds.

It compounds.

It becomes a force that cannot be diminished.

The dark feminine rises.

The maiden and the mother don’t disappear — they merge into the most powerful expression of creation itself:

The Queen.

This is what patriarchal systems fear most:

A woman who has gathered all her power, all her wisdom, all her magic from decades of sacred bleeding — and now HOLDS it.

No more bleeding out.

No more cycling.

Just pure, concentrated, unrelenting POWER.

The Queen doesn’t ask permission.

She doesn’t shrink.

She doesn’t apologize.

She commands.

And after the Queen?

The Crone.

The ultimate wisdom keeper.

But that’s another conversation.

Right now, if you’re still bleeding, honor it.

Feel the power.

Rest in the rhythms.

Learn what your body is teaching you month after month.

Because one day, you’ll arrive into your Queendom.

And when you do, you’ll understand why they tried so hard to make you hate your period.

Because they knew what you would become.

You are part of an unbroken line of creators.

Your blood is sacred.

Your body is sacred.

You are sacred.

Remember that.
