What if the problem isn't that you're not confident enough?
What if the problem isn't that you need more discipline, more motivation, or another strategy?
What if the version of you that keeps shrinking was never you to begin with?
Most people spend their lives trying to fix themselves.
They try to become more courageous. More successful. More decisive. More worthy.
But underneath all of that effort is a painful assumption:
"Something must be wrong with me."
I don't believe that's true.
I believe most people aren't struggling because they're broken.
They're struggling because they're living inside patterns that were never theirs to begin with.
Patterns inherited from family.
Patterns learned through rejection.
Patterns built from moments when being fully yourself didn't feel safe.
Maybe you learned to stay quiet because speaking up created conflict.
Maybe you learned to play small because success made other people uncomfortable.
Maybe you learned to become who everyone else needed you to be because belonging felt more important than being authentic.
At some point, those patterns became automatic.
So automatic that you stopped questioning them.
You started calling them your personality.
Your identity.
Just who you are.
But what if they're not?
What if the people-pleasing, the perfectionism, the self-doubt, the constant second-guessing are not character traits?
What if they're survival strategies?
Because there's a massive difference.
A character trait feels permanent.
A survival strategy can be changed.
The problem is that most people try to change their lives without changing the pattern underneath them.
They set bigger goals.
Create better plans.
Read more books.
Listen to more podcasts.
Yet somehow they end up back in the same place.
Not because they lack information.
Because the pattern is still running the show.
The pattern always wins until it's seen.
And once it's seen, it can be challenged.
Once it's challenged, it can be broken.
This is where real transformation begins.
Not with fixing yourself.
Not with becoming someone new.
But with remembering who you were before the pattern took over.
The strongest version of you isn't something you have to create.
It's something you uncover.
It's already there beneath the fear.
Beneath the conditioning.
Beneath the stories you've carried for years.
The work is not becoming more.
The work is removing what was never yours.
So here's a question worth sitting with:
Where in your life are you shrinking?
Where are you holding back?
Where are you living according to a story that doesn't actually belong to you?
Because the moment you recognize the pattern is the moment you stop being controlled by it.
And that moment?
That's where freedom begins.
