The Three Choices Patriarchy Gives You (And Why It’s Making You Sick)

HERE’S WHAT PATRIARCHY TEACHES YOU FIRST:

You exist to serve men.
Regulate their emotions. Manage their anger, soothe their egos, never be “too much.” Anticipate their needs. Keep them comfortable. Provide endless emotional labor without expecting anything back. Shrink so they can feel bigger.

And your body? That belongs to them too. Your body exists for their pleasure. Your orgasm doesn’t matter. Your desire is secondary - or irrelevant. Sex is something you give, not something you GET. You should be grateful for crumbs.

Once that programming is installed, patriarchy offers you three survival strategies disguised as choices:

Option 1: Submit

Be small. Be quiet. Be compliant. The “good girl” who makes everyone comfortable.

You survive by disappearing. Your nervous system becomes a hypervigilant guard dog, constantly scanning: Am I too much? Did I upset someone? How do I keep him happy so I stay safe?

Option 2: Manipulate

You can’t ask directly - that’s dangerous. So you get your needs met sideways. Passive-aggression. Performance. Saying one thing, meaning another.

You survive by lying - to them, and eventually to yourself. Your nervous system runs scripts: How do I get what I need without being punished for wanting it?

Option 3: Fight

Fuck it. You’re done playing nice. You say what you mean. You refuse to shrink or serve.

This is the most honest option - but patriarchy punishes honesty in women. You lose access, get labeled “difficult” or “too much.”

You survive by burning - but you’re still burning in reaction to the cage.

None of These Give You Freedom

Sovereignty is being fully yourself and still being safe. Expressing needs directly without punishment. Taking up space without fighting for it. Experiencing pleasure as your birthright, not as crumbs you’re lucky to get.

But patriarchy can’t allow that. Sovereign women don’t need the system.

What This Does to Your Body

Your nervous system wasn’t built to live in constant threat assessment while suppressing your own needs and pleasure.

The cost:
😳 Chronic anxiety (hypervigilance never turns off)
😳 Exhaustion (performing/fighting/shrinking drains you)
😳 Autoimmune issues, digestive problems, disconnection from your own desires
😳 Sexual dysfunction (your body shut down because pleasure was never for you anyway)

You can’t be free and feel good under patriarchy. Your body takes the hit.

How You Actually Get Out

You don’t leave the system externally - you can’t, it’s everywhere. You step out by refusing to internalize it.

Here’s how I do it:

Stop performing for approval. Notice when you’re modifying yourself for comfort and choose differently.

Name your needs directly. No manipulation. No silence. Just truth.

Set clear boundaries. If someone doesn’t like my boundary, they can walk away. I don’t negotiate my limits.

Listen to your body. When my body signals something - exhaustion, hunger, desire, overstimulation - I act accordingly. I rest when I need to rest.

Claim your pleasure. Your body is YOURS. Your orgasm matters. Your desire matters. Stop accepting crumbs.

Build community with sovereign women. You can’t do this alone. Patriarchy isolates on purpose.

Choose relationships that don’t require you to shrink. This might cost you access to people who only accept the caged versions of you. Let them go.

I don’t live under patriarchy anymore - not because the system disappeared, but because I stopped letting it run my nervous system.

And you can too.
