Wine, Water, and the Paradox of Sacred Living (What are we really drinking?)
Wine, Water, and the Paradox of Sacred Living (What are we really drinking?)
By Mama Tiff

Have you ever just sat there, glass in hand, and thought, “What the hell am I actually drinking?”
Life is wild like that. You think you’ve got things sorted, but then you look a little closer and, surprise, everything’s a paradox.
The Paradox in the Pour
Water?
Yeah, it’s the stuff of life, but it’ll drown you if you don’t respect it.
Fire can toast your piggies on a winter night or burn your whole house down if you’re not careful.
Sex might be the wildest expansion of your freaking mind and body, or the deepest wound you carry for years.
Food can heal you or make you sick.
Wine, tequila, whiskey, gin - sometimes it’s a blessing, sometimes it’s a curse, and sometimes it’s just a Wednesday and you need a little fun as a human.
Let’s stop pretending it’s about the “thing.”
It’s about you.
It’s about who’s holding the glass, who’s cooking the meal, who’s touching whom, who’s stirring the pot (literally and figuratively).
The Real Alchemy…
People throw around the word “alchemy” like it’s some mystical concept, but there’s nothing more magical than grapes sitting in a barrel for a year and coming out as the bottle you’re saving for your next big laugh or cry.
Wine isn’t just fermented grapes.
It’s history, patience, heartbreak, celebration, drought, flood, farmers with sunburned necks, winemakers with wild dreams, and sometimes a little bit of pure dumb luck.
Tequila? Don’t even get me started.
That’s some agave plant soaking up the Mexican sun for years, then hacked, roasted, smashed, juiced, and finally, after who knows how many hands and stories, it ends up in your shot glass right when you need to toast to freedom or celebrate the day.
Every spirit has a story, and if you’re just drinking to get drunk, you’re missing the best part - the legacy in the bottle, the wild ride it took to get from earth to your lips.
Kind of like people, right?
You don’t know what someone’s been through until you really sit with them.
Expansion or Escape? (Yep, You Have to Choose)
Here’s the thing nobody wants to admit…
Alcohol is an amplifier.
It won’t turn you into someone new - it’ll turn you inside out and show everyone what’s already there.
If you’re drinking because you can’t face your life, it’ll just hand you a mirror and make you stare until you break.
You want to numb out? Sure, you’ll get numb, but you’ll wake up with more ache than you started with.
But if you’re drinking to loosen up, to open your heart, to drop the armor and laugh your ass off - hell, you might just find yourself having the best night of your life.
That’s the line you have to walk.
And trust me, I’ve stumbled across it more than a few times, fell flat on my face, and had to crawl back to center.
There’s no shame in it.
You learn, you grow, you try again.
The Paradox, Baby. That’s Life.
Here’s a little secret:
Everything you love has a shadow side.
And everything you fear can teach you how to live bigger.
Water heals and destroys.
Fire warms and rages.
Food comforts and punishes.
Sex connects and divides.
Wine can open your mind or close it down tight.
It’s not the thing, it’s the dance.
It’s your intention, your mood, your story, and sometimes just dumb luck.
Some nights, that glass of wine is a portal to your truest self.
Other nights, it’s just a drink with dinner, and sometimes it’s the thing that reminds you you’re still alive, even when life’s too much.
Alchemy in the Ordinary…
You want to know where magic lives?
It lives in how you pour your coffee in the morning, the way you salt your eggs, the laugh you share with someone across a table, the music you blast while you cook dinner, and yes, the way you pour your drinks.
If you bring love, attention, curiosity to what you do, the ordinary gets electric.
Make your life your ritual.
Pour your drink with a little ceremony - even if you’re the only one in the room.
Light a candle.
Bless your food, if you want.
Play music that makes you want to move.
That’s living awake.
That’s the Queen’s Path, if you ask me.
A Quick Reality Check…
And let’s be honest - some people just cannot drink alcohol.
For some, it’s like peanuts or shellfish: doesn’t matter if you want it, your body just says “nope.”
Final Pour..
Nothing in this world is all good or all bad.
It’s all got two faces, just like every one of us.
Water, fire, food, sex, booze.
They’ll give you what you bring to them.
So next time you lift a glass, jump in the river, crank up the heat, or fall in love,
Remember, you’re the one making it matter.
Not the world, not the rules, not your mama, not the preacher, not the influencer on TikTok.
You.
Make it count.
Laugh when you fuck up, pour another round if you need it, and live with your eyes open and your heart as wild as you dare.
