Nobody Sees You

The Truth About Perception, Projection, and Personal Freedom

A reflective portrait of a confident woman standing in her own power while multiple shadows and interpretations surround her, symbolizing how people project their own beliefs, fears, and stories onto others.

Let me tell you something that will set you free.

Nobody sees you.

Not really.

People do not meet you and immediately perceive your essence, your truth, your heart, your intentions, or your character.

They meet you through themselves.

They see you through their fears.

They see you through their wounds.

They see you through their desires.

They see you through their beliefs.

They see you through the stories they already tell about the world.

The same woman walks into a room and one person sees confidence.

Another sees arrogance.

Another sees freedom.

Another sees danger.

Another sees inspiration.

Another sees a threat.

Which one is true?

Maybe none of them.

Maybe all of them.

They are seeing their relationship to the qualities they perceive in you.

A woman who loves herself will be called self-centered by someone who was taught self-love is selfish.

A woman who speaks directly will be called rude by someone who was trained to avoid conflict.

A woman who is sexually free will be called dangerous by someone who was taught desire is shameful.

A woman who is powerful will be called intimidating by someone who feels powerless.

And none of those reactions actually tell us who she is.

They tell us who THEY are.

Why You Can’t Control How People See You

This is why, as a public figure, I eventually stopped trying to control perception.

It’s impossible.

One person will make you a saint.

Another will make you a villain.

A third will make you a fantasy.

A fourth will make you a cautionary tale.

And all four will swear they are seeing the real you.

They’re not.

They’re seeing themselves reflected in your mirror.

Real Seeing Is Rare

This doesn’t mean nobody ever sees us.

Some people do.

But real seeing is rare.

Real seeing requires someone willing to look beyond their projections and ask you about how you feel and experience life.

How many people do that?

Be honest.

Almost no one.

How many are willing to look beyond their assumptions?

Beyond their wounds.

Beyond the stories they need us to play.

Most people never get that far.

And that’s okay.

The Freedom of Knowing Yourself

Because freedom arrives the moment you realize your job was never to manage other people’s perceptions.

Your job is to know yourself.

To become yourself.

To love yourself.

To tell the truth as you understand it.

And then let people see what they see.

Some will misunderstand you.

Some will adore you.

Some will judge you.

Some will be transformed by you.

None of that changes who you are.

The sun does not stop being the sun because someone mistakes it for fire.

And you do not stop being you because someone mistakes you for their story.

Know yourself.

The rest is noise.
