What Is Hell, Really?

By Mama Tiffany

Mama Tiffany reflecting on personal transformation and the real meaning of hell

Let’s get something straight right out of the gate:
I’ve lived in hell.

Not the cartoon version with pitchforks and brimstone, but the real one — lonely, raw, relentless, and often wearing the face of my own doubt.

So… what is hell, actually?

Spoiler: it’s not what you were taught in Sunday School. Buckle up, because I’m about to torch some sacred cows.

Hell Is Not Punishment. It’s Transformation.

Who sold us the story that hell is some eternal torture chamber, reserved for the “bad” kids? Please.

Hell isn’t a sentence.
It’s a crucible.

It’s where the old, inherited, borrowed, bullshit parts of us go to die so something real can finally be born.

Think about it.

Descent, not damnation.
Hell is where you go when you’ve lost clarity, when the lights go out, when the masks crack and you can’t pretend anymore.

Initiation, not exile.
Every myth, every hero worth a damn, goes to hell.

Jesus.
Persephone.
Inanna.

They didn’t get stuck.
They got stripped — then reborn.

Hell Is Shadow, Not Evil

All those things you were told to hide — your rage, your lust, your grief, your wild longing?

That’s the underworld’s gold.

Hell holds your shadow. And newsflash: your shadow isn’t evil. It’s just the place you stuffed everything too real, too fierce, or too messy for polite society.

In hell, nothing is wasted.
Everything gets composted.
Digested.
Burned clean.

It’s not about punishment.
It’s about purification.

You don’t go to hell because you’re bad.
You go because you’re ready to be real.

Hell Is Not Separation — It’s Where God Meets You

Here’s the part the old priests and control freaks got dead wrong:

Hell isn’t where you’re abandoned by God.

It’s where the Divine crawls right into your worst day, sits with you on the cold floor, and refuses to leave until you’re ready to rise.

I’ve met more God in my private hells than in any crystal shop or ashram.

When you’re done pretending.
When you’re stripped and sobbing and completely over it.

That’s when the real current shows up.

The Furnace, Not the Final Act

If you’re in hell, here’s the good news:

You’re not being punished.
You’re being remade.

Hell is the furnace.
It burns off the noise so your true voice, your holy hunger, and your wild love can finally get some airtime.

You’re not stuck.
You’re not cursed.
And you’re not alone.

You’re in the process.

And babe — the only thing you’re going to lose is the part of you that was never real in the first place.

Final Word: Burn It All — But Come Out Shining

So, what is hell, really?

It’s the place you go to remember you’re indestructible.
It’s the path to becoming untamed, unashamed, and undeniably you.

2025 was my hell.

Anyone who tries to scare you with hell has never survived it — and probably never met their own shadow.

Me?
I lived there.
I brought back the keys.

And if you need a hand out — or just someone to sit in the fire with you until you’re ready — you know where to find me.

Now go raise a little hell of your own.

Hahahahaha.
